I had completely forgotten to add this the other day to the giveaways (I’m good like that). I ordinarily wouldn’t stamp in pink, I am so dreadfully predictable with my ink/color choices either neutral or shiny (I love metallics). I was inspired when I put together a package for one of my favorite bloggers and knew I couldn’t even think of sending her a parcel without it including pink, thus this shot was from a practice run to make sure the pink and the stamp were just right. This stamp is hopefully going to save a lot of people from not having a spare thank you card around, because you will be able to make as many as you can find paper to stamp on, really though why stop at paper? You can stamp on ribbon, glass, wood, whatever you can dream up.
I did get feedback the other night that the stamps when wet dissolved the ‘adhesion’ from the lucite base. I am so happy I got this note because I had been taking for granted that people know more about rubberstamps than they might. You do know what good it is to assume right? Please reference the Bad News Bears for that lesson. For the record Besotted Brand stamps are not permanently adhered to their base, they stick via static (the rubber is backed with a special cling material) which makes them removable for easy storage and to be able to create your own designs. I was assuming that people would know that but I guess I was wrong. What I would love to know from all you creative + crafty folk (and your answer will enter you in the giveaway) is what I should be letting people know about how to use and care of ones rubber stamps, any tips or tricks? I am not a stamper but those would make great wedding thank you cards after I get married in May! I love your giveaways. Thanks so much for the opportunity to win. My question is, do you have a full time job and if so, where do you find the time to blog? I try but it falls to the bottom of my To Do list, often.

i have never actually successfully gotten my stamps clean. ditto pen nibs, if we’re being honest. i always sort of hope no one notices in the excitement of ‘oh! what a fabulous stamp!’ if you have any tips for that, i’d love it, for one. for two, i’d love to win! and here’s why! we are getting married in april and we haven’t navigated our thank you cards yet, but gifts are starting to fall in, and i’m trying to keep up. we’re also moving from nyc to north carolina in four weeks. and i’m lasercutting our save the dates and invitations. myself. (i should mention i’m getting my phd and have a full time job? you see how the save the dates are six weeks in the making…) but! our whole theme is ribbon banner just like the thanks! literally, just like it. and this would be such a perfect thank you! i think in the end we could even do mine in pink and his in green or blue or something and then it’d all be so branded and nice and how fabulous would that be? oh, and? FRIDAY OCTOBER 7 IS MY THIRTIETH BIRTHDAY! JUST THINK! YOU COULD GIVE ME THE BEST BIRTHDAY GIFT EVER! {besides our bid being accepted on the house, which happened yesterday, which is all i really wanted anyway. but this would be icing on the birthday cake.} oh please oh please oh please, oh!
I definitely did not know you can potentially rotate stamps from one handle to another, I always thought you get a stamp with a handle, that’s it. That’s the product. Unless it’s one of those brass seals that screws onto the handle (those are gorgeous). You should definitely add that to the fine print.
I love stamps, I use the ones I have all the time, but I do struggle with proper cleaning – I can never get rid of the ink residue. Any tips on cleaning, or the basic rubbing off with tissue (that’s what I do) is all that’s needed?
I love crafty ideas with stamps, like the column on Oh So Beautiful Paper, if you have any. When I see or read suggestions on how to use the stamps it always makes me want to buy them even more.
One thing I alway struggle with when stamping and you might have a tip that can help, is positioning the stamp right. Say I want to stamp a note card on the top center like you did, or stamp my business card dead-center. How do you do it? It’s always a hit and miss with me and most times a little off-center, a little crooked. That’s part of the charm of hand stamping, sure, but there has to be a trick that helps!
Okay, I’m no expert, but here’s what I do to clean my stamps – rubbing alcohol and a cotton ball. It works for rubber stamps and those clear stamps that cling to an acrylic base. Simple, easy, and it’s something people may have on hand. It doesn’t remove stains on the stamp, but it does at least get the ink off!
I’ve done this for years, and haven’t seen any deterioration of my stamps; the alcohol evaporates pretty quickly, but you do have to be careful not to get the backs of removable stamps wet with it, because it will take off the adhesive.
Now, as for what I’d include with the stamp – I’d probably include basic care, that it’s removable, and maybe a cleaning or storage trick. I print off a little care sheet (roughly the size of a business card) and tuck it into my jewelry packages, so maybe that’s an option for you, Miss B.?

My fabulous mom, a nurse, always kept a box of alcohol wipes with our stamps when my sister and I were little. They are handy, easy, and keep your stamps and fingers clean.

I remember when I first started stamping I had to look up things all about ink because certain ones didn’t turn out the way I wanted. The differences between dye, archival, pigment, etc. It’s always fun to know more!
