Maybelle Luxe Lettering Kit Giveaway Ink

We are thrilled that you all seem to be as excited about our giveaway as we are! Michelle, a fine photographer indeed, shot the kit beautifully and I thought you may want to get a peek at some of the items in the kit. Maybelle’s favorite ink is in the kit, it’s housed in a convenient dropper, with a seriously gorgeous letterpress label. I’d have to say Maybelle’s attention to detail is what sets her apart from her peers, it is unparalleled. I am sure you will agree with me, but I should stop blathering and show you more, no? Lettering Gift Guide I via Besotted Blog

I have been behind on pretty much everything, so a gift guide a few days before Christmas doesn’t seem so strange, right? I have good reason (as I usually do), I don’t have much time these days but I have been on fire inspired. I don’t know if it’s the prospect of a new year but there’s so much I want to do, I am not sure how I will be able to fit it all in between naps (as that is the only ‘me’ time I get these days). I am dubbing this lettering gift guide ‘I’ because there will be more to come, so many links to be sure, but the kits, the class and a great scanner are all things I am sure any lettering enthusiast would enjoy!

Kal’s brush lettering class should be a must see for everyone. What? Let me tell you, I have watched it several times already, her LOVE for her craft is so awe inspiring, if you don’t feel this way about what you do (or something in your life) than you need to re-evaluate. She just love, love, loves it, everything about it. I think we all need to have that something that we are wildly crazy about and it doesn’t have to be lettering, but that something that drives us to be better, try harder and get lost in the process. A  truly wonderful class!

I think if you are going to be gifting a newbie lettering enthusiast a kit, there’s so many lovely ones out there right now and even if the recipient has a kit, it’s nice to have new supplies and also new exemplars to follow.

I have misplaced the power source plug to my scanner and have been annoying everyone to scan things for me. I really love my scanner and have recommended it before but I have been noticing a lot of artists have been using scanners that are not flat beds so I added one I think looks pro enough (quality wise) and has that low profile that these artist seem to like (great for small spaces).

fig. 04 (not shown) I think this Adobe Photoshop subscription is a total bang for your buck, I wish they had it when I first started out as a graphic designer!

P.S. If you want even more Kal inspiration, because who doesn’t? Watch her Ted Talks, be forewarned it brought tears to my eyes!

foodie gift guide besotted blog

So much to say, there’s a reason that it’s been sporadic here, I despise being ‘one of those‘ bloggers that apologizes all the time for their absence, it seems so trite. In my defense I do have a reason, so much to say about it and I will be expounding on it later but now is not the time. Michelle though has graciously continued her perfect gift guide search whilst her partner has been in the abyss. Today we are doing the Foodie gift guide!  I am not a foodie as much as I am a food enthusiast, I think this gift guide will be equally as helpful for both as I see about oh, 8 things I wouldn’t mind owning…

Gift Guide Seattle local

Sure, Seattle locals (and locals at heart), could stuff their stockings with Starbucks cards and  call it a day, but there are plenty of smaller Seattle businesses that deserve some local holiday love. Did you know Moorea Seal is a Seattle local? She fills her online (and now brick and mortar!) shop with tons of gift-worthy items. You may notice another familiar small business on the list, that’s right – Besotted Brand calls Seattle home too!-michelle.

I am going to interject and add my Seattle 2 cents. if you are unfamiliar with the Emerald City, you may be surprised that it is such a creative hub (I know I was). I have been so grateful to be part of this community in even a minute way and we wanted to do a Seattle guide to celebrate and highlight some of that talent (all credit on the sleuthing I give to Miss Michelle). Cassandra of Coco + Kelly fame has just taken on an enormous undertaking a local holiday pop-up if you live here or are planning on visiting, it may be worth a drop in!-tristan.

P.S. I picked up my nibs + ink and started some lettering for the first time in 12 months, it felt AMAZING. I highly recommend finding even 10 minutes of time to do something you love. If you are curious, to create the ‘cheers’ lettering I used this nib, on this paper, with this ink. You can find some of my fave supplies here. I’ll elaborate more in another post on what my experience was getting back to it (nope, not like riding a bike!)
