Hello Darling!

hello darling besotted blog

As new parents, my husband and I could have never imagined how much walking we would do. We walk so much that we have dented the sidewalks. We are the tired looking couple that is up before everyone else in the world, just walking up and down and back and forth across the neighborhood, getting our daughter to sleep. The morning ritual has become second nature for us, on days that our daughter sleeps until 6 a.m. I am elated, it’s practically sleeping in! But most days start at 5 a.m. and those are rough, especially since I am still not drinking coffee (oh, how I miss coffee so much!). A beautiful thing started to happen on our walks, it seems spring arrived (finally) and all of our neighbors gardens have exploded with blooms-peonies have been everywhere, if I wasn’t trolling the neighborhood so much, I may not have been privy to such gorgeousness.

I just wanted to stop by and let you all know how much I miss you.  We (we as me and my partner!) have been working on site tweaks and coming up with new, beautiful + useful content (soon my friends, soon). Pre-baby I would have stayed up for days/nights on end to get everything done, post-baby I am happy to add ‘chew my food’ or ‘wash my hair’ to the list of things that might actually get done. I am in awe of every mama that seems to be accomplishing anything. I thought I would share some of the things I have been able to do…

I am almost finished with a book (a whole book!) I can’t believe it but I was able to carve out some late night time for myself. This is the book I am reading, it is a sequel to this book which I adored. I’ll be sure to write a review when I am finished.

I found a walker for Elle that wasn’t hideous and she is enjoying it immensely  (even though she hasn’t figured out yet that she can use it to ‘walk’). If you are looking for one that is not a mess, I highly recommend this one. Speaking of mess, Elle started eating solids and the walker also doubles as a high chair (well, a dining area) and it collapses so it can be easily stored in the closet when not in use.

I wanted a pair of cute slip on sneakers (tying shoes is too much effort these days) and I found the cutest pair here of all places.

I dropped my phone and crushed it, so after months of using a crushed (but functioning) phone we finally made time to pick up a new one. I got this one and now feel complete.

I’ll be popping in again soon!

P.S. Why yes, I can tell you where you can get that beautiful font, just stop by here.

  1. Tristan, my heart is racing right now. I didn’t know there’s a sequel to Miss Peregrine’s! I loved that book! I think you’re doing a great job being a mom. I am also in awe watching other mommies being able to take their kids out and accomplish other things. I bring my toddler out and just keep on chasing her, which means we cannot sit still to enjoy a meal. But who cares, I love her to bits and that’s all that matters! Looking forward to the changes in your blog. Still my favourite. xo Pauline

    1. Pauline, it has taken everything for me not to read in one evening! I am trying to savor it! It’s so nice to hear other mommy stories, I am feeling pitifully inept. Thank you for your kind words:)

  2. At first when I read ‘finish a book’ I though you’d meant you’d finished writing a book!

Looking forward to the new changes! But enjoy the early mornings, sleepless as they may be.

    1. Brittan, now that would be quite an accomplishment! I shall try to go in a re-word that, lol. I will try yo enjoy the mornings as much as I can (without coffee it’s hard!)

  3. No coffee?? That would be torture for me. We also have an early riser (although it has gotten a tiny bit – like 30 minutes – better as she has gotten older). I hope your darling follows suit.

I’m so with you on the slip on sneakers. I refuse to buy lace up anything anymore. Its one of those things I never realized would be something I would be (at least temporarily) saying goodbye to when I had a baby. Especially once she starts walking, trying to get out the door and tying your shoes while chasing her around isn’t worth it.

Thanks for the rec – im going to have to get hose payless kicks.

    1. No coffee! Since I have a baby that likes to sleep strike I wanted to make sure that I didn’t have anything in my system that was adding to her sleeplessness, it supposedly takes an awful long time to get caffeine out of a babies system (something like 48 hours?) and I would rather sacrifice espresso then any more sleep! Who knew that shoelaces would be an effort? Btw, I want you to write more baby posts! I went through your archives (I need help!) and I was like why aren’t there more?????

  4. Oh my, your line about ‘chew my food’ being on your list of accomplishments made me laugh out loud. So true! With my first baby, I quickly realized one doesn’t reallllyyy need to wash one’s hair that often….

    1. It’s true Chiara, my hair? Oh, what a mess, I understand now why so many women go and get a ‘mom’ cut, I am *this* close to chopping my hair off too!

  5. I remember thinking the world was such a beautiful place REALLY early on summer mornings when my first was born and I should become a morning person but as soon as he started sleeping later so did I ! I had good intentions thought.
