MMXII::15::EDITING A PHOTO A DAY IN 2012

MMXII::15::AFTER
I mentioned that this may be disturbing for some, thus a Sunday post.  I was pondering why this would be more disturbing than the other edits of stuffed, dead animals and my conclusion is these look dead, thus upping the ick factor.  It doesn’t bother me as much, I suppose since I went to a zoo biological science school I have had a lot more experience around these types of specimens than most, so perhaps I am a bit inured to it, my husband not so much. “That’s disgusting hon, ” was his assessment. I have told him that when our little fur baby G.G. passes I am going to have her taxidermied, because I can’t imagine not seeing her everyday.  Yes, he still married me, even though he has emphatically stated that, that would never ever happen. We’ll see.  I do hope this hasn’t turned your stomach too much, both the image and my rhetoric.
I will be editing a photo a day for the remainder of 2012::Project MMXII, this is my ‘after’, you can view the ‘before’ here.

  1. I think everything you do is beautiful, so you’ll hear no complaints from me. It’s funny, my husband and I were just talking about this subject (dead animals) tonight. We bought a cowhide, and a small part of us felt uncomfortable with the idea. Then we realized our hypocrisy, as we stood there in our leather shoes eating beef tacos talking about our guilt over a cowhide rug. Kind of ridiculous to be opposed to one and not the other, you know?

    It reminded me of the time I emailed you all irate those awful pictures of a dear being slaughtered and you responded—horrible, yes, but where do you think meat comes from?

  2. I personally like this picture. The textures and colors are dreamy. It’s too bad the poor bun buns had to die, but at least you gave them beauty.
