OLIVER JEFFERS RULES!

Hudson Besotted Blog

The absolute best thing about having started my blog is the people I have met through the years. I feel so fortunate because in my ‘real’ life prior to blogging I was always working and 99% of that work was from home so I didn’t  really get a chance to meet like minded people, the blog changed all that nonsense and I have met some pretty spectacular individuals that I think the world of.  One of those people is the wildly creative Suzonne of  Urban Comfort. Last Spring I was fortunate enough to visit Suzonne in New Orleans and met her son Hudson, (a perfect Southern gentlemen in the making). I received a parcel in the mail the day before Christmas which took me over a month to open because I was a little out of it (understatement).  When I finally did open one of the beautifully wrapped gifts it had the above enclosed note, my favorite part reads, “I’m happy you had a baby.”  I loved it so much I put the note on the refrigerator and smile every time I read it.  Hudson happens to have wonderful taste in books, some of his favorites include mine (I too am a Green Eggs & Ham fan), but he introduced me to a new favorite The Incredible Book Eating Boy by Oliver Jeffers.

Oliver Jeffers II Besotted BlogI was familiar with Oliver Jeffers work and have long admired his lettering, but now I am just over the moon for him.  This book is so charming and well done, and I mean this next statement as the highest compliment it’s like if Anthropologie became a children’s book.

Even though there’s not a ton of contrast which younger babies love, it still seems to grab baby Elle’s attention and it certainly grabs mine.  I have plans now to add many more Oliver Jeffers books to her growing library, which of course I plan to keep you abreast of, I so love books! and hope Elle will share that same passion.

P.S. That colorful ball toy is from the Manhattan Toy company and is a wood bead rattle that is not only lovely to look at but a lot of fun for baby!

  1. Aww, Hudson’s going to love that you put his note on your blog. I will show him after school. And yes, Oliver Jeffers rules! (Missing you in Nola. xo)

  2. My boys and I are HUGE Oliver Jeffers fans! Our absolute favorite is “Stuck” and we giggle every time we read it. There are so many incredible children’s books out there that we just can’t keep up. Personally, I’m saving up for “Neither Here Nor There: The Art of Oliver Jeffers” for my own collection. I’m so glad that you are now a fan too!
