I came to the attention of Iphonegrapher and dilettante extraordinaire one Ashley Woodson Bailey via my partner in crime Michelle P., whom happened to hear about her via my very fave Ginny Branch (if you don’t know Ginny you need to get to know her stat). Of course I was bowled over by Ashley’s beautiful imagery all captured on her Iphone, blown up to inconceivable sizes and just in your face statement pieces. My mouth was a little agape as I went through image after image and wished I had the foresight to have done something so incredible as Ms. Woodson Bailey, but alas I have still not found my photography ‘niche’, one day…But the photo’s aside, they are impressive and all but nothing and I mean nothing, could have prepared me for her inspired (and sometimes tragic) back story, how she got to this fantastic place in her career and life.

If you are feeling at all lost in your current career, doubting yourself, rueing the many twists and turns of your life and wondering as an adult far too ‘old’ (in your own perception) to have figured out what you are going to do when you ‘grow up’, I urge you to take some time to go read Ashley’s story, she could have a second career as a motivational speaker if she wanted to, I was moved by her raw honesty and felt like she was telling her story directly to me.  I hope on this Monday morn that if you read it you will feel equally as inspired! Here’s Ashley’s story, enjoy!

  1. I loved her story. It was immensely moving and gave me hope (I’m just at the beginning of my crazy journey after 2 years of solid employment right out of college). Her images are so immensely breath taking, and she’s immensely gorgeous. I hope once I reach 41 I can look back with as much growth and compassion in my story as she has for her own.

    1. Jay, this is a wonderful story to read on the beginning of your journey! I have been so inspired by it as well and it makes me so happy that it resonated with you as well.

  2. Tristan!!!

Ashley told me about this post!!! I love love Ashley, she’s so wonderful AND talented! Please come to Atlanta and visit us :)

  3. Tristan! I am passionately in love with your work. Please don’t stop. Your work makes me so very happy. It is my happy place. My safe place. My place to go to find the style I couldn’t find anywhere else, not even my own head. I know so well how hard this mommy-ing thing is. And this wife-ing thing. I am wife to an on the road music manager and mom to two wild and crazy comedians, age 7 and 11. In the hard times, such as now, I tell myself that I can’t wait for the day when I look back and say, “Wow, that was hard!” Past tense. ; )

    1. Wow, Shelly, thank you for making my day:) Your compliments are so very appreciated. I just went to visit your site and you are all kinds of talented;) That must be tough to have your husband on the road and yes, I haven’t even started factoring in the wife-ing in all this mother-ing, lol. I could have never been prepared for this job if I read a million books, talked to as many people, it is serious WORK and I do have an ‘easy‘ baby. This has put me through my paces. I think part of the weight of responsibility is that I so want to do the best job I can and often doubt that I am. The overthinking is exhausting! Thank you again for your visit!
