I mentioned the Pinterest Curator series on the clipping mask tutorial last Friday (it’s the technique I used to create it), which made me all kinds of nostalgic for the series. I loved creating those posts and discovering new people, some even became friends (that’s always a nice bonus, one became my business partner/ally/creative collaborator extraordinaire). This was the first one I ever created, inspired by none other than the ever lovely and creative Michelle P.  I did this years ago, but I still love it and that is saying a lot since my moods seem about as mercurial as my toddler’s when it comes to my designs.

We have some awesome posts planned this week, Michelle recorded one that I know you will find incredibly useful and a good resource.  I am hoping to get an interview up from a new to me lettering artist that has knocked my socks off and got me inspired to get my nibs out of hibernation. We hope to see you here!

Monday came way too soon, don’t you think?  I usually look forward to Monday’s but I have lots and lots to do and I could have used an extra Sunday, you?  This is a special week, we are hoping and praying and maybe doing a little finger crossing that we will launch our new Photoshop action set for lettering artists tomorow. There’s nothing of its kind on the market and we hope it enables many other lettering artists the opportunity to share their work with the world in an easy + efficient way!

This week will be dedicated to lettering love, we’ll have calligrapher interviews, lettering resources galore, and plenty of lettering inspiration. We hope it invigorates your current lettering practice or motivates you to give it a go (I know I am so anxious to pick up my nib again!) This is a little curation of one of my fave Pinterest boards-Hand Lettering Love, if you haven’t visited it before be prepared to lose a few hours, there’s so much goodness and a nice variety of styles. P.S. I haven’t listened yet, but lettering guru Sean Wes has started a podcast. He was one of the firsts to share lettering ‘secrets’ and what he has built (a small empire) it quite inspiring. I am sure it’s a good listen.

I have not done a Pinterest Curator in ages, I used to love them, but truth be told they took an enormous amount of time which I don’t have a lot of anymore (there should be a time Lotto). I have to choose my time wisely and any extra time I have now seems like it would be better spent sleeping. Today I am making an exception, because this series was how I came upon Miss Jen Huang in the first place.  Jen emailed me that she enjoyed my series and after following her links I was sufficiently flattered, embarrassed that I wasn’t more ‘together’ and ecstatic to have found a new talent. In honor of our ‘meeting’, I wanted to share Jen’s Pinterest, she has been able to successfully use it to share her portfolio/work in a way that is authentic and infinitely ‘pinnable’.
