There’s something extraordinarily comforting about having someone know you so well, so when Michelle sent me the link to Milk Books and said we need to write about this I knew it was going to be awesome. As you can see from the photo, the presentation is beautiful, sophisticated and unique, this is a keepsake gift for yourself or a loved one. The price is also incredible, starting at a mere $95 usd! Yes, they do have an app, and you can also log on to their desktop site to upload as well.

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Artifact Uprisings new lay flat albums, the albums are cloth covered, the blush colour is perfect (my fave) and you can even get the cover hot-stamped in gold or copper foil, white or black!  A beautiful, beautiful presentation. Speaking of presentations, I know a number of photographers that have started using them as their portfolio, so if you are stuck for portfolio ideas something to consider!

We have a few more resources for you, so check back tomorrow and feel free to add any of your faves to the list!

Frame your photos from your phone via besotted blog

There’s not a whole lot I hate more than physically framing my own photos (Michelle concurs). There’s something so annoying about pulling up all those little sharp tabs, sliding your image in the frame only to find after you finally secured everything that you have a piece of dust, fingerprint or what have you stuck between the image and the glass, time to start all over again with those sharp little tabs. What’s that? You spotted something shiny? Your toddler just put something suspicious in her mouth? The dog got into the garbage again? So much for framing best intentions…until that is we came across Instantly Framed. This is one of those companies where you secretly wish you came up with the idea, an app that allows you to both print and frame your Instagram/mobile photos in super high quality (they even wait for the photo to cure before attempting the dreaded framing bit), gloriously large 12″ x 12″ frames, $65 usd, with free shipping, a 3 day turnaround as well, it’s time to add to the gallery wall!

I spotted this image of Philipe Roucou’s beautiful silk scarf on Brooklyn Limestone over 3 years ago and it still has been floating away in the abyss which is my brain and this week was the perfect time to break it out and let you know that there are so many resources now for printing actual silk scarves! You can print one or a thousand, technology has finally caught up with us crafty minded individuals that don’t like anything that looks crafty (if you know what I mean). With the holidays around the corner, this resource couldn’t have been more well timed. The best types of images would probably be something along the lines of what Philippe Roucou did–simple, nostalgic images, travel inspired with good tones and palette. I’m thinking even a great vintage photo would work too!

It’s been a year since the last time we discussed printing your photos (something I highly believe in and am so guilty of not always doing). A lot has changed since last year, new companies and new offerings have popped up especially for printing targeted from your mobile device, the ease of printing now could not be more streamlined and effortless. Armed with your new and improved mobile photography skills, we thought it might be fun to add some printing resources to your list, so this week will be dedicated to unique printing resources.

First up is pretty awesome, from the individuals that brought you PhotoJojo–their newest offering is a site called Parabo Press, a print service for ‘design minded’ folk. I have to say that they did an amazing job with keeping the prices accessible, the large engineer print (4 feet by 3 feet) is only $25 usd and the wood rails for hanging (a whopping 3 feet across) is only $45 usd! I’ve seen similar versions that run three times the amount. I love that they offered hanging options, because even when I do print my photos it seems taking it to the next step is where I falter most. Another printing option they offer is the Risograph– screenprinting friends!  My mind sort of exploded with ideas, we are talking instant modern art, I love this concept so much (and I love the price even better). They have many more products to explore, if you would like to visit you can find them here.
