IPHONE LOVE

I took this recently, the City of Angels it seems was late on the falling leaf trend that had swept the nation a few months prior. I love the idea of always having a camera at the ready to capture a memory.  I carried a tiny Canon Elph for many moons but even though it was diminutive in size it was such a chore for this lazy bones to bother to fish it out of her over-sized bag, take it out of its case, shoot and then have enough energy left over to download and edit the photo.  The Iphone makes it so easy for me to shoot, edit, send to Flickr and call it a day. Memory preserved in 2 seconds flat, maybe 3.

BABY OWL

I received an email the other day from Miss Mary M. that asked if I was still posting cute animals on Monday’s and if so she was kind enough to include a link to a cute baby animal.  I do think when you send a link of a baby owl in a knit cap that you need to accompany it with a warning *this may kill you with cuteness*. I can guarantee that I have never seen a cuter baby owl, with or without a knit cap, this little guy/gal takes the prize for cuteness this Monday morn.

ENCYCLOPEDIA OF THE EXQUISITE

I am finding it hard to articulate my sheer delight at the existence of this fine tome– Encyclopedia of Exquisite by one Jessica Kerwin Jenkins so I shall allow the lovely Ms. Kerwin Jenkins to do so:
Each of the Encyclopedia‘s 100 entries points to a different way to be happy, whether that means wearing a top hat, eating a luscious pear, luxuriating in a bath full of warm milk, or keeping a singing cricket as a pet.
A perfect gift for a lady, an ephemera addict, history buff, design enthusiast or the like.  I can not wait to open my copy up on Christmas morning hint, hint

BOKEH TUTORIAL

Bokeh, sweet bokeh. You may know them as light blobs, but the Japanese were kind enough to proffer up ‘bokeh’ and us American photo enthusiasts have accepted it into our vernacular, now if only they would come up with an alternative for the word ‘blog’ that will catch on…

If you have been hanging around Flickr or blogland for any length of time you may have spotted these aberrations and have perhaps wanted in on this secret society of light.   Lucky for you and me Darcy has created a magnificent (and quite easy) tutorial which will have you shooting bokeh like nobody’s business in no time flat.  Have fun!

SOLID FROG

I do not have the gift of finding new blogs. I am hopelessly lost and left out in the discovery of this bright, new world.  My friend Jules always finds the best new this or that,  I can’t even begin to know where to search, so when I find something that I think is fan-flippin’-tastic I immediately want to be able to show that I too can find something fabulous.  The other day I thought it was Emmasdesign blogg, only to find to my horror that the lovely Sarah of Truly Smitten wrote about the same ‘blogg’ the day before.  A weird coincidence, I pinky swear I didn’t check out her blog and think to myself  ‘hey self, wouldn’t it be a grand idea to write about the same blog as Sarah and use the same photo’ a day after she wrote her post?

Today I am feeling confident you may not have been introduced yet to the lovely blogg Solid Frog, (another Scandinavian beauty) by artist Mia Linnman.  Her ‘blogg’ led me down the rabbit hole to Skona Hem, which made me feel like maybe just maybe I too can deliver a new discovery or two.  Sarah, if you wrote about this yesterday, uh oh.
