BELLS

This is my ‘dogter’ Bella aka Bells, Baby, Turkey (because of her turkey legs) or Lucha (for the Mexican masked wrestlers).  Bella is quite the character, in this photo I think she looks like a baby gorilla wearing a Phantom of the Opera mask.  Unlike my G.G., Bella adores having her photograph taken, when she hears the click of the camera she comes running up to the lens and poses.  I love to watch her bat ears perk up and I go especially coo coo when she tilts her head to the side–just clobber me with cuteness.

Happy Monday!

ODE TO GENINNE Z.

I have written about artist Gennine Zlatkis many times prior on my former Blahg, she of the bird fancy and extraordinary hand carved stamp abilities.  I have long admired her interior aesthetic and her creativity seems to know no bounds. Today I saw her work available at Urban Outfitter’s which made me want to drop by her blog to see what she has been up to.  To start she and her family have a beautiful new home which her husband made (plus most of the furniture) it has such achingly gorgeous light that I felt paroxysms of envy every time I viewed more, which I could not stop myself because of said achingly gorgeousness.  It seems the whole family is blessed with creativity in spades.  Did I mention that Gennine lives in what seems like the most perfectly quaint Colonial town in Mexico?  Which makes me feel like an armchair adventuress with each click of my mouse.  Then I discovered that she is hosting a workshop in said quaint town, which I can only dream of attending but perhaps you have been saving your pretty pennies for just such an opportunity?

I do hope this weekend finds you flexing your own creative muscle, there seems to be a plethora of craft projects to do this holiday season and I have already started on a glittered woodland menagerie that I was hoping to unveil this week, but I had a bit of a craft disaster.  Let me just leave you on this note if you are going to glitter plastic figurine’s use ultrafine glitter and not chunky German glass glitter unless of course you want your glittered animals to look like they have a severe case of the disco mumps.

PAPERPHINE

Paperphine has been sitting in my Etsy favorites for way too long.  I re-discovered the Vienna based shop again yesterday and am happy to share them with you today.  Paperphine is the only shop I know of that sells ‘paper yarn’ a product so rare that you would have better luck finding a four leaf clover than another purveyor of paper yarn—I am duly intrigued.  Let it be noted that they sell some of the finest paper yarns around, which I wholeheartedly believe since I have never seen a live specimen of paper yarn in my life so I can not compare, but if their styling is any indication of their quality than I think you can trust that they will deliver.

EMMAS DESIGN BLOGG

I love a home with beautiful, white light, it seems the Swede’s have mastered capturing this heavenly essence and Stockholm’s Emmas Design Blogg has managed to catalog each of the finest examples.  Emma is not relegated to just Sweden, she’s an equal opportunity clean, creative design enthusiast and you can find Scandinavian style from Stockholm to Spain and back on her blogg.  If your interior design aesthetic leans towards the crisp with a little vintage thrown in with a demitasse of continental flair then you need to go visit Emmas Design Blogg and bookmark it today.

GLITTER RIBBON

I have a penchant for neutrals but have been known to get distracted by shiny objects on occasion. I do treat metallics as part of my ‘neutral’ palette because to me they are just shinier versions of their flat color cousins. I have never been one for glitter though but something has snapped in me and made me want to glitz it up this season.  I saw this ribbon which is not really glitter but a weave that mimics glitter, as I am already beyond obsessed with ribbon and now have a soft spot for the shiny stuff  I had to order myself some.  I don’t consider myself much of a collector, I like things in my life that have purpose it feels more justified when I buy something that I want and don’t need if I can actually use it–like shoes, handbags or say ribbon.  There’s a slew of things you could make with this sparkly ribbon: a necklace, belt, headband, brooch, ornament, etc. that I feel like my purchase was more than worth it.
