Are you feeling lucky?  Me too, happy St. Patty’s day! I don’t own anything green so I am leaving myself open to being pinched.  What an odd tradition in grade school you get pinched, after that you get sloshed.  Interesting.

Yesterday I went downtown for L.A. market.  It’s a fashion and accessory smorgasbord but I was more excited to meet the handsome guy above–Dash.   He’s a good boy.  He doesn’t whine, bark, beg or do anything naughty, I love him. His mommy designs a darling line called Rossmore named after one of my very favorite streets in the City of Angels.  I think I would be very happy taking puppy pics all day long.  Yup, I really think I would. My name is Miss B. and I am a junkie.  A beauty junkie that is.  I can’t help it, I am on the endless search for complexion perfection.  It is an on-going journey and one I shall never cease to be captivated by.  My latest obsession is Laura Mercier’s mineral make-up kit from Sephora.  I don’t think you can get it anywhere else and the price is right.  You get brushes, primer, concealer, foundation and ‘Stardust’ (yes, it is as magical as it sounds). The kit helps you achieve a dewy, luminous complexion, something that evaded me in my 20’s and is now all mine in my advanced years.  A little goes a long way, so if you are into amortizing your purchases like I am (it’s easier to justify) than this really is mere pennies per use.  If you need concealer like it’s an extension of your being than you must try Laura Mercier’s concealers.  They are light and airy and camouflage like nobody’s business. Okay, I shall stop being a pusher and just go back into my beauty junkie hovel.

The Fancy and I watch documentaries often. I have been meaning for a long while to write down a list of my favorites because I am hoping that you watch a couple that then become your favorites too.  On Saturday,  I did something very indulgent for me, I watched a documentary during the day–gasp.  I never do anything so lax. My days are always planned to the ‘nth second, so to get up and decide to do nothing is quite unlike me.  I chose to watch A Man Named Pearl, oh I am so glad that I did.  For those that feel they are too old, that they have no idea what they want to do when they ‘grow up’, are stuck in dead end jobs, please watch this documentary.  Pearl found his passion and then the accolades and opportunities followed.  This man worked 12 hours a day at a job for 36 years and still came home every night and worked on his passion (garden) from 6 p.m. to 1a.m. in the morning!  Don’t you want to feel that in life?  A drive so irresistible that you can’t wait to partake?  What was his wife’s take on this?  She said, ‘If Pearl is happy, I am happy.”  I couldn’t be more enamored with this film.

If I have one regret in life, it just may be that I did not name my blog I (heart) odd-toed ungulates like artist Natalya Zahn has gone and done. Who knows how the Google search wizards work that they should point me in the direction to click on Natalya’s fabulously dubbed blog, but they did and I am happy to be able to use odd-toed ungulates multiple times in a post.  Thank you Natalya.

I know you may find this hard to believe but I thought that it was Tuesday all day yesterday Thursday).  I even got a parking ticket because I parked on the side of the street that had Thursday street cleaning, which I obviously thought was fine because in my mind it was Tuesday.  When I tell you that I have been working like my life depends on it, you need to know that I am not exaggerating.  I am working on a special project, my internal code name is ‘Project Pawsible’ so yes, it has to do with pups.  I love all animals but you can’t have a pet panda or baby elephant without serious repercussions so I am happy with my fur babies. I am trying to get clearance with my company to be able to mention what the heck I am doing and to stop being so covert here but until then I have to keep my big mouth shut (nearly impossible).

I am super excited about this weekend though. I am so very fortunate to be able to work with one of my favorite parfumers in a special parfumery class.  I haven’t done anything with fragrance for three years because of my previous scary job; smell and memory are so closely linked that I didn’t want to create an amazing scent only to have it sullied by my situation.  Now that I am going to implode with happiness I thought it was time to go back into the lab and start creating again!
