EMMAS DESIGN BLOGG

I love a home with beautiful, white light, it seems the Swede’s have mastered capturing this heavenly essence and Stockholm’s Emmas Design Blogg has managed to catalog each of the finest examples.  Emma is not relegated to just Sweden, she’s an equal opportunity clean, creative design enthusiast and you can find Scandinavian style from Stockholm to Spain and back on her blogg.  If your interior design aesthetic leans towards the crisp with a little vintage thrown in with a demitasse of continental flair then you need to go visit Emmas Design Blogg and bookmark it today.

GLITTER RIBBON

I have a penchant for neutrals but have been known to get distracted by shiny objects on occasion. I do treat metallics as part of my ‘neutral’ palette because to me they are just shinier versions of their flat color cousins. I have never been one for glitter though but something has snapped in me and made me want to glitz it up this season.  I saw this ribbon which is not really glitter but a weave that mimics glitter, as I am already beyond obsessed with ribbon and now have a soft spot for the shiny stuff  I had to order myself some.  I don’t consider myself much of a collector, I like things in my life that have purpose it feels more justified when I buy something that I want and don’t need if I can actually use it–like shoes, handbags or say ribbon.  There’s a slew of things you could make with this sparkly ribbon: a necklace, belt, headband, brooch, ornament, etc. that I feel like my purchase was more than worth it.

GEORGE

This is my best friend George and her best friend Martha.  ‘George’, ‘Georgie Girl’, ‘G.G.’ or just ‘Perfect’ has been my favorite gift I have ever received.  I never had my own puppy before, nor my own bunny, two animals that I have wanted my entire life and now I feel like I have a combo–a bunny pup. These photographs are as rare as a Yeti sighting as my little love never allows me to photograph her, she’s the Garbo of dogs, she just wants to be left alone.  But how can I leave something as impossibly cute as this alone?  She begs to be picked up and smooched and ooh’d and ahh’d over.  When I look at her I can’t believe she’s real, she’s so tiny and teddy bear like.  Sigh.  I know, I know, I am being a show off, I can’t help it, when you are in love you just feel like letting the whole wide world know.

SOUVENIR FOTO SCHOOL::FOOD + FOTO:: NO.004

It’s Tuesday!  I took a little break from the interwebs so I could cook my heart out for the last four days.  I like any excuse to feast. The above bread was baked by moi and I am so proud I could burst.  My first bread attempts were fine and edible, (a plus) but the crumb was a tad on the dense side and I love those airy holes and crusty, crunchy crust which I wasn’t able to accomplish until this weekend. I tried my hand at a beer bread and it was horrible, it was my fault I used a very hoppy beer (it had a pretty label) and it overwhelmed any other taste the bread would have had if it had any other taste than a weird alcoholic one.  I am convinced you would be arrested if you drove after you ate my awful beer bread. I tried Jim Lahey’s recipe on Saturday, the bread wasn’t ready to bake until Sunday–so. worth. the. wait.

That brings me to week four of our Food + Foto project,  only 2 weeks left and I can’t believe that I have actually accomplished a semblance of continuity with the images, so unusual. These were taken at night with the help of my trusty lights.  If you didn’t make it into class this time but are looking for a creative photo project, food certainly is an excellent subject. I think you will find it both challenging and inspiring, bonus you get to eat your ‘props’.
