MMXII::43::EDITING A PHOTO-A-DAY IN 2012::

These little sprigs of Rosemary are from my garden. Well, what was once considered my garden until I killed everything, even with the soil for dum dums that supposedly was fool proof but this fool messed up. I have pretty much left everything to become a barren wasteland, it looks like a scene from Mad Max out there.  It rained for a few days on and off, my Rosemary had a second wind though. I guess it prefers Mother Nature to me.
I am coming back later today for another framed print giveaway, this time they are professionally framed and not framed by me, which is a good thing because it seems I don’t have an aptitude for framing.  The previous prints did arrive at their destinations safe and sound so I am confident that I can at least get the winners their prizes in one piece (a relief). I have two new prints that I hope you like, but will have to wait until I can pull together another post. I think we can all agree I am not the speediest person on the planet, but I do get there–eventually.

MMXII::42::EDITING A PHOTO-A-DAY IN 2012::

Can I just tell you how exhausted I am? Last night we went out on an early Valentine’s date. We don’t usually go out, so anything past 8 p.m. is seriously partying for us. We really did it up too–dinner and  a comedy show. We like to watch stand-up comedy on Netflix so why not go to a live show? Completely different experience, firstly you aren’t wearing your husbands over-sized college sweatshirt (and looking so sexy, hah) or tucked in a bed with sheets so soft they should be illegal, surrounded by little fur monkey puppies that can’t get enough of your goodness. Being in high heels, make-up and in cramped quarters on a super stiff chair watching the lukewarm comedian’s before the ‘start’ arrives was a little painful. I am happy being a homebody unless my husband would like to travel to Italy or the Maldives, totally count me in. Late night club atmosphere, thank you, but no thank you.

MMXII 41:: EDITING A PHOTO-A-DAY IN 2012

11:57 p.m., I got this up just under the wire! I have had to use the loo for this entire edit but didn’t want to post this after midnight, which would be cheating and I wouldn’t do that. I must be a masochist. I picked these anemones up today on a lark. I thought the color was so striking even though I tend to prefer lighter hues for my abode, these jewel tones were mouth watering delicious. I was practicing shooting on a dark background, it’s a lot harder than you might think. Once I get it down I will be happy to share, in the interim my trusty Photoshop is going to have to give me a helping hand.

MMXII::40::AFTER
I am early today, no late night editing sessions in bed with my cortisol levels at a peak and cold sweat dripping down my face. Nope. Today, is already shaping up to be tremendous, the sun is shining, birds are chirping and I have made at least a dozen scratch offs on my to-do list. Timing myself has become something that actually works for me, who knew?  I tried to make this edit look like it was shot with film, I did a whole week here dedicated to film photography so if that doesn’t make you believe I am ‘into’ it, I don’t know what will.  I used some of my Christmas gift certificate  the other day to buy a new book.  My husband was a little miffed as the gift certificate was to be used towards books for the Kindle he got me (I love this thing and want to marry it). I used part of the gift certificate to get a subscription to Smithsonian magazine, which I was so excited about until I found out that each new issue delete’s the issue prior to it. WHAT?  I can’t read an issue of Smithsonian magazine that fast, who can?  There’s National Geographic issues from 1977 that I still haven’t gotten through, sheesh. After this discovery, I felt safer buying a ‘real’ book. Besides this book is pretty gorgeous and it needs to be held and flipped through at one’s leisure.  I am now the ecstatic owner of Jonathan Canlas ‘Film is not Dead’ book and I love it more with each page turn.  If you are interested in film photography I highly recommend it.

MMXII 39:: EDITING A PHOTO-A-DAY IN 2012

MMXII::39::AFTER
So, this is my do-over of my jellyfish from yesterday.  I probably would have been better off working on another image as my expectations for this were high. It’s not as good of an edit as the one I lost, but I tried. I almost forgot to post this evening, must have been the glass of wine I had with dinner.  I have a very low alcohol tolerance, actually I think it’s a low sugar tolerance. I have a glass or two of vino and it effects me like I imagine would be the equivalent of another person being locked for three days in an opium den. Not that I have any opium den experience, but I do have a pretty active imagination.  I have much to tell, but for now I am going to sleep off my sugar high.
