MMXII 38:: EDITING A PHOTO-A-DAY IN 2012

MMXII::38::AFTER
I had another edit that I had finished earlier this evening that I really liked, but somehow from the time I sat down for dinner, walked the dogs, cleaned the kitchen and came back to the computer it had disappeared–poof! The original edit was a jellyfish and even though it was black and white the water looked deep and inky to to me. I was a little annoyed (okay, the top of my head popped off and steam came out).  This edit although a bit less spectacular actually fits the mood of the day. It was dark, gloomy and a tad ominous. This feels a little ‘Poe’ to me even though this bird is less foreboding than a crow. I think it’s a Titmouse which has got to be the worse name ever. If your name is Titmouse and I just offended you my apologies.
I used a new action from my friend Bill at The Photo Argus (one of my fave photography resource sites). Bill launched Union Actions and this is his Toy Camera  Photoshop action (completely editable). I’ll let you know more about them soon, but let’s suffice to say that Bill and his Union actions saved the day and kept me from playing in traffic for one more evening, phew!

MMXII::37::EDITING A PHOTO-A-DAY IN 2012::

I do believe having my post titles be the name of the images is quite bad for my SEO and maybe misleading to my visitors. Not that I know a thing about SEO, but I do know that you are supposed to make your post titles relevant. I probably will be more thoughtful with the blog re-design.  Also, a lot of people who visit here may think this is all I do now is edit poorly photographed images, which is not the case.  I still have loads going on and I am still flapping my gums about it here. Aren’t you lucky? I got a new camera yesterday, the best Monday EVER.  It was an early anniversary gift from my husband. This year will be our 7th year together, of those 7 years we have been living together for 6 years and 9 months. I know, not what I ever want our future daughter to know (if we have a daughter in our future or son). No, I am not preggers, but I do have baby fever. So I didn’t get a baby but a camera, I am still thrilled! Wouldn’t you be?

POPPIES!

Ah, do you see what I see?  A little blush poppy! Perhaps even two! This bouquet yielded some nice surprises! If Carnations are nature’s pom poms, Poppies must be nature’s confetti. My apartment is bursting with color. These bouquets were only $5, you’d think I would have bought six of them, they are practically giving them away.  Now that I drink coffee at home again like in the olden days (before Starbuck’s) I feel like a millionairess! I am so happy that it’s Poppy season, it makes every day a party.

I did two edits today because I am madly in love with my subject.  I knew I would be, I had never met Tru in person until this shoot, I just saw rogue images of him on the interewebs by his mama (and my friend) Alex.   I didn’t realize the intensity of my feelings until I was with him in person and he coyly ran away from me when all I wanted to do was hug + kiss him. He only has eyes for his Mom. I love how that top photo conveys his adoration.  Alex likes to call Frenchie’s velcro dogs, I have to agree, my Bella is so attached to me that a shower is too long of a period away.  My ego secretly sops this attention up, because Bella seems to love me more than anyone or anything on this earth.  I know why some parents have favorites, just sayin’….Not that I do, I love my little 3lb. miniature polar bear dog to pieces, but George isn’t as crazy for me as her sister. It’s just different.

MMXII 35:: EDITING A PHOTO-A-DAY IN 2012

I’m supposed to start working on the new blog re-design tomorrow, where do I even begin? It’s not so much aesthetics that are the hurdle but the functionality. I want so much! I also don’t want to forget all that I want. I have been scribbling in notebooks for months, but all my notes are here and there and not in one convenient area to reference. I hope I can put the little bits together to form one cohesive story. I know this isn’t a great edit, I was feeling a little overwhelmed with the impending task at hand and am going to just go with this. One of the things that is weighing heavily on my mind for the new blog re-design is image size. I sized a lot of things to fit the parameters of this here blog and well, I don’t have original images, so either I have to stay with this size or make larger and have all my older images look warped and pixelated. We should all have such trivial worries, no?
