Serum based foundations & CC Creams

I have gotten very, very lazy with my beauty routine.  Not so lazy that I would dare step outside bare faced mind you, but I do want as little effort as possible and I wouldn’t mind if people thought I had no make up on. I adore the Armani foundation (even though many of you reprimanded me via email for promoting such a luxury item, the others that tried it did sing my praises). But back to being lazy, I wanted to see if I could cut out as many steps as possible, since I no longer have multi-step time even though I have a multi-step need. I absolutely refuse to leave the house without a moisturizer, sunscreen or some sort of coverage to help with my hyper-pigmentation/uneven complexion. I did a little research and tried some products and these are my picks for the lazy beauty-phile.

IT COSMETICS CC+ CREAM

This is a new to me line and I only bought the trial size, which still ran $15! It had some rave reviews and I was reeled in by the 50+ SPF, you just don’t find that in a BB or CC cream. There’s a lot to like about this product besides the high SPF, it has a built in primer and an anti-aging hydrating serum and it’s full coverage (unheard of in the beauty balm realm). The first time I tried it without moisturizer on and it did me no favors, I loved the coverage and it didn’t feel like I was wearing any make-up throughout the day, without moisturizer though it dried pretty matte and settled into my laugh lines (not pretty). I gave it another try with moisturizer (I have been using this drugstore find day and night) and I have been pretty hooked ever since. It leaves a nice glowy (not greasy or dewy) finish on my dry skin and I can build coverage. This is not a product you want to get heavy handed with, just dot it on your face and work it in and you can achieve very natural bare faced results!  Pros: 50+ Sunscreen, full, buildable coverage  Cons: There’s not many shades so you may not get a good match for your skin, I chose medium and it works nicely.

Lovely, lithe script font

a nice monoline font via besotted blog

Michelle found this font and asked me what I thought and I think I may have squealed.  The String family by Maximiliano Sproverio is one of those finds that makes you want to go and design something so you can use it. This font would look great on everything from invites, to your holiday cards even a fun brand identity. It has a casual feel with a dash of fancy added, if it were an outfit it would be jeans, a white button down with a sparkly statement piece added. I am partial to the holes version, it reminds me (a teensy bit) of the beloved Mr. Boddington hand (now if they ever came out with a font I would be one of the first on line).

Let us know if you use it in a project, we always are up for some eye candy!

Sunday Suppers by Karen Mordechai book release!

sunday suppers photos by karen mordechai

I was beside myself giddy when I found out that the Sunday Suppers book was finally available!  I am a HUGE fan of Karen Mordechai, I am on the Sunday Suppers mailing list,  I follow their Instagram feed, I stalk their site. One of my bucket list desires is to be able to join in one of her worskshops (just follow their Instagram feed and I dare you not to want to add it to your bucket list too).

What is Sunday Suppers beside complete and utter gorgeousness? According to their site it is a communal cooking center; even that snippet feels warm + inviting and not pretentious, I love a casual vibe when I am cooking (and dining), you? If you are as obsessed as we are with beautiful photos, styling, design and of course food then you’ll need to pick up a copy (or two) of the new Sunday Suppers book pronto.

Enjoy your weekend friends! I’ll be of course waiting with bated breath to hear (and hopefully see) Michelle’s report on her Luisa Brimble class, I am so envious!

Keep it Classy

Keep it Classy via besottedblog.com

This weekend, I will be attending a photo workshop taught by the divinely talented Luisa Brimble and hosted by Aran Goyoaga! Woo! With so much talent in one room, I am fully expecting to lose the ability to speak proper English, but hopefully I can keep my wits about me enough to Instagram some juicy tidbits for you!

Autumn is a natural time to want to invest in our passions and sharpen our skills. Tristan and I both have the learning bug right now and have been bookmarking our dream classes left and right. If we could spend loads of time traveling to classes and workshops over the next couple of months, here are the gems that would make our list. If you’ve taken classes from any of these instructors, spill it – we love to live vicariously!

Pretty handlettered font

pretty hand lettered font via besottedblog.com

I don’t usually share the fonts I use in my shop, now that would be silly of me don’t you think? But this one font (the one shown on the stamp) I get so many emails about that it would make a whirling dervishes head spin. So in a moment of extreme generosity and to selfishly keep my inbox from bursting I am going to spill the beans, but first let me tell you why I like it–indulge me.

I initially had this font in my original logo tries for Besotted Brand, a testament to how much I like it. I love that it’s feminine but not too girly (too girly never works for me). It has nice swashes and alternates to really make this font your own, so basically you can dress it up or down as much as you like. Options, I like options! It feels simple and handwritten, not too much flash but enough to get your attention. It had its hey day when it first launched, but it seems to have died down quickly, which in my opinion is great since you won’t see it everywhere.  I think this would be a perfect font to use for holiday, heck make your own own custom stamps (I happen to know a wonderful stamp maker). Okay, I won’t hold out any longer, feel free to go and add it to your collection here.

Psst, you can find some of other font loves here.
