I like to think of myself as an aspiring foodie, I’m not an amateur in the kitchen, but I could up my menu repertoire tenfold and my appliances have zero foodie cred. I’m about to change that this year and will be referencing our ‘aspiring foodie’ gift guide to help me make it there.
And just like that it is fall…And I have nothing to wear and I have no idea where to start to find what I would like, you? I am writing this post in hopes to see if maybe you might have any suggestions? I am at a lost, I feel like no one has just beautiful, simple basics that don’t cost a fortune. I have included a couple resources, one is from one of my fave blogs for capsule wardrobes, she always seems to find a great mix of high and low. I also have a pin board ‘Closet Case’ for some great inspo on simple outfits that will last you into the next couple decades looking chic. Other than that? Kind of at a lost, but open to suggestions!

Diane Von Furstenberg is truly an inspiration. Michelle may have put it so perfectly, ‘She is someone that seems both down to earth and regal at the same time.” An anomaly, we like that. Today, when we working on our Instagram ads, oh, gosh, don’t get me started…something wonderful came up, a mention of Diane Von Furstenberg’s new Masterclass on branding. If there is anyone I would take advice from on this subject it’s someone who’s mere mention conjures up icon and unforgettable. I am going to link below to the class (in case you want to take it too) and also to her autobiography which is a must read for any woman business owner!

Herb Ritts is one of my very favorite photographers, simple and glamorous, iconic and utterly unforgettable. I picked up Herb Ritts L.A. Style the other day and it did not disappoint, curated by Paul Martineau associate curator for photography at the Getty museum (a favorite museum if you ever get a chance to visit), it is filled with Mr. Ritts most seminal images.
Michelle and I have been studying masters of photography for a while, mainly images in black and white, research to inspire us while we are developing our black and white Photoshop actions and presets. It has been a labor of love for sure going through photo history and identifying the tones and characteristics of a monochrome image, the qualities that make it most striking and how the absence of color was used to greatest effect. It is a lot more complicated than it seems, for me a natural born tinkerer it’s my happy place. I love having someone to pore over these collections with, someone that can add to the conversation (and is equally as giddy). Unlike most editing tools we have created, where we can almost magically transform your so-so image into something great, a black and white takes a little more forethought, sure you can get good results but with a little planning you’d be able to get outstanding ones. We are all about creating something outstanding.
